  2. Email the Iranian authorities

    Please write to the Iranian government emphasising the work that Shane, Sarah and Josh have been engaged in and how they stood for peace and justice. There is a template email you can copy and paste below, although personal emails - however short - are always more effective.

    I am writing to appeal to you to intercede with the appropriate authorities for the immediate release of writers and anti-war campaigners Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal from detention in Iran.

    They have been held without charge since July 2009 in Evin Prison.

    By continuing to deprive Shane, Sarah and Josh of their liberty, Iran is working against some of the very causes it claims to support. Each of these three has a long and public record of contesting injustice in the world and working with groups across the Middle East for justice in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan (see www.freeourfriends.eu for details).

    Please release them immediately so they can continue their valuable work.
